Thanks to everyone who participated with our STAR writing test and the High School Exit Exam in March. Attendance for all state tests is critical to the success of our school. We appreciate that you took the time to address those requirements.

We hope everyone took some time during our spring break to breathe and rest. I’d say we hope you had time to smell the flowers but we don’t have any of those yet in Alturas. Today we have snow.

Tighten your seatbelts because the end of the year is headed our way. It seems that the second half of the year flies by as we prepare for the STAR writing test for 4th and 7th graders March 1-2, the 10th grade Cahsee test March 8-9, and STAR testing between April 26- May 5th. Testing is critical to our school’s success and funding so our commitment is to support you and your children the best that we can so that all our students feel confident and prepared. Your teachers have prep packets with released test ques ions to help with that process. We have tutors and teachers experienced with the subject areas ready to help. Just let us know what we can do to assist.

I am a fall lover! My only com- plaint is that it goes to quickly. The trees in Alturas are bright yellow and the drive to Red- ding through the Fall River Valley and Burney areas is stunning with the oaks in full glory. It makes the drive to Redding a pleasure.

May 2010 Newsletter

You Made It!

Thanks to all our families who attended STAR testing and to the students who worked so hard to do an excellent job.  I know that was a sacrifice and I appreciate the effort.   We were successful in meeting our 95% goal for our API score.  It feels good to be past testing and cruising to the end.   As you are probably aware, our last day of school is June 9^th.  I look forward to seeing some of you at our high school graduation celebration on June 12^th.  We will also honor our 8^th grade students moving on to high school.
